‘True change takes place in the imagination’ – Thomas Moore

If you feel that it is time for a change and you are trying to figure out how to do it, the best first step is to go back into your imagination and explore the vision that you want for your life. Our imagination is the source of power of our creativity and in our imagination we can create our future life.

Think about it for a second. As long as you didn’t have a major event that was out of your control, you are where you are because you have imagined it when you were younger. The life that you live now is not 100% what you imagined but it is derived from the seed that you planted years ago with your imagination. If at this point in your life you feel that it is time for a change, you can go back to your imagination and create the future that you want to have.

When we are younger we naturally let the imagination fly because it brings us a massive flow of creativity and joy. For various reasons, when the years go by we lose this connection with the game of imagination and instead we give more importance to knowledge. The result in so many cases means feeling stuck.

To start rolling the wheels of imagination I invite you to play the imagination game.

Look at the date of today, and throw yourself to the same month and day only 10 years from now.

Now, start imagining your life on that date. You can start by asking some general questions like:

Where do you live?
What do you do?
Who are you with?

The more specific you are the more fun you’ll have. Here are some additional questions that will help you go deeper into the game:

What kind of job do you want to do? Is it full time?
Who do you have around you?
Are you traveling a lot or do you stay in one place?
Do you live in a city or the countryside?
Do you live in a flat, a house? How does it look like?
Are you involved with the community?
Do you have kids?
What kind of food are you eating?
How is your health?
Are you physically active?

You can ask yourself any question that you find relevant and these questions can touch any aspect of your life – relationship, work, health, location, activities, etc.

This is your space for imagination so use it to create the vision that you want for your life. Connect with what’s real. Connect with yourself. Not having this vision can result in running like a mouse in a cage, whereas with this vision your life will start to unfold as you go, as long as you let things happen.

Focus on what makes you happy and remember that when you are happy you are most likely to make the people around you happy, and happy people make a better world.

Enjoy the game.
